A garden designed from scratch, filled with exotic trees, luscious hedges and David Austin roses
South Acres Garden
Location: Australia, Robertson
The nine years spent making a garden on South Acres Farm were among the happiest years of my life!
It was on this farm that I was able to fulfil a life long dream of creating a big garden from scratch. Apart from some well established trees, there was very little actual garden when we bought the farm. The large area around the cottage, which I called the house paddock, was flat and just perfect for the creation of a new garden.
We planted miles of hedges, over a hundred exotic trees, herbaceous borders and a Lime Walk. We constructed a Rill and built a pond. We had a rose garden filled with David Austin roses and we built timber raised beds and grew vegetables. We also built a Tea House surrounded by Silver Pears planted in rows. We opened the garden to the public and it has become one of the favourite gardens in the area.
We were very sad to sell the garden but began to feel that the upkeep and maintenance was proving too much. We will always remember our wonderful years in this special place.
